This is the beginning of another horticultural adventure.
I was given two bulb/seeds of crinum mauritianum, a plant that was endangered. If all goes well, I will be contributing to its preservation.
I prepared two pots with a mixture of compost, molehill dirt and sand, in equal parts.
I placed the bulb/seeds on top and pushed down slightly, as advised by a site I consulted.
Next comes patience (a virtue).
Tonight was the time for the Big Squash I decided. Wielding a hefty knife (did you know that wield and weld are not pronounced the same? I only learned that recently.) , I began to cut. Oh, boy, is this knife going to get stuck? I wondered. When I get old, I may not be able to do this anymore. I was reminded of having my first baby. I had been told so much about how awful it would be, my husband had been sent home because it was way too soon for the baby to be born, but in the middle of night, I was thinking if this is going to get two or three times worse, I don’t know if I can handle that. It turned out the baby was soon born, I had been through “the worst” without realizing it.
So…… am I maybe already old?
