Brave Christmas Rose
I was shocked by what I heard on the news this morning via one of our local radio stations (I thought they were more or less independent but now I realize they go right along with the system). They informed us that measures of heightened security will be taken at the Breton Christmas markets in order “to protect the civilians”. The civilians? Are we at war? What kind of talk is that? This was followed by words from a general asking for more money in the military budget. Can we possibly still believe that killing the bad guys is an acceptable solution, one that will bring happiness to humanity? Sometimes I am bad, as we all are. Should we all commit suicide?
A hellebore or Christmas rose is bravely blooming at our doorway. It was a gift from a friend. Like this flower braving the elements, producing its beauty in this bleak season, I continue to believe and work for peace, try to find others who realize that it is only by changing our individual hearts that we can build true peace and create happiness for the human race. I stand against “common wisdom” which calls the message given in Arès pipe dreams, impossible to realize. How low do we have to go before we wake up?
We are free to snuff out our divine image and likeness, to revert to being nothing more than a thinking animal, if we so choose. If we do choose to change, to go towards Good, it will take time to really make a difference in the world. It is urgent!
