More Kitchen Sink
When my elder son was about eight, one day when I was scouring the kitchen sink he said, “Why are you doing that Mom?” I realized it was something I did when the boys were asleep or at school.
Today I was scouring the sink and husband said “what are you doing?” Now I am beginning to wonder is this a shameful activity, done only in secret? Maybe he meant why am I doing housework on a Wednesday. To boost my morale I asked him to put on some music. We have a charger of CDs that shuffles. In it are several types of music. Sometimes it’s funny when Souza booms out after a jazz song. One of them is nothing but tubas — that’s a surprise also.
I kept at the housework and was cleaning the toilet when the mailman arrived, bearing a package I could tell was from the States. The music playing was “mais comment te dire, mais comment te dire combien je t’aime” which is to say, but how to tell you, how to tell you how much I love you. I was smiling big-time. The mailman smiled also. I hope he didn’t get any wrong ideas…
After opening the box from my sister, I went back to work, finishing the usual and going on into some unusual, putting a bit of wax on the floor, then shining it up. For a brief moment, I was on the verge of losing some weight, but tea-time soon arrived. I had a little snack of cereal (healthy kind) with cottage cheese that my husband makes, mainly (I think) because he knows that is something I miss.
So I am focusing on love and am quite thankful for all I receive.
Here is another brief video with me singing that bit of melody so that you can hear it. That’s the tubas in the background.
